DTM: Christian Vietoris tops the last day in Hockenheim

By ,

Christian Vietoris (Mercedes) was quickest in the fourth and final day of testing in Hockenheim.

The german driver, who is a member of the Mercedes Junior Team with Robert Wickens and Roberto Mehri, concluded the day ahead of his team mate Jamie Green and Felipe Albuquerque (Audi), followed by Audi drivers Miguel Molina and Rahel Frey.

Again, Bruno Spengler was the quickest of the BMW drivers. The Canadian driver stood in first position in afternoon’s rankings for a while, before he dropped down to 6th position at the end of the day.

On the morning of the third day Spengler had an accident. While the circuit was drying out he hit the wet kerb on the exit of the final corner, spun and clipped the wall with the rear of the car. Following repair work to the rear, he was able to re-join the action.

"The last test before the first race was a positive one," Spengler said. "Sure it was cool, but at least it stayed dry – apart from Wednesday morning. It would obviously have been nice to have a few more days of testing. I’m sure the other teams feel exactly the same, though. Everyone has given their all and tried to make the most of the time available."
