Gary Paffett, the 2005 DTM champion and runner-up of that series last year, has been confirmed by HWA Mercedes for the 2011 season.
The Brit made his debut in DTM in 2003, then clinched the title two years later, before he left the serie sas we was involved with the McLaren F1 team as their test driver.
After he failed to secure a seat as a race driver with McLaren in 2007, Paffett returned to the DTM, racing for private team Persson Motorsport in 2007 and 2008.
Paffett was back in the official HWA team in 2009. Last year, he secured the runner up position behind champion Paul Di Resta and ahead of Bruno Spengler.
