Tesla CEO Elon Musk believes that driving an automobile will become illegal once autonomous vehicles prove that they're safer and more reliable than humans. As a matter of fact, the company is actively looking for skilled engineers to accelerate the development of autonomous driving technology.
“In the distant future, I think people may outlaw driving cars because it’s too dangerous,” Musk said at a conference held by graphics chipmaker Nvidia Corp. “You can’t have a person driving a two-ton death machine.”
Musk later clarified his remarks on Twitter: “To be clear, Tesla is strongly in favor of people being allowed to drive their cars and always will be,” he wrote.
