Endurance: Start-up of the fuel cell GreenGT H2 Le Mans car (+video)

By ,

The GreenGT H2 is the first prototype electric/hydrogen competition car and it is intended to be raced in the next edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In the fuel cell, hydrogen is produced from the electrolysis of water. The water is then recomposed during the production of electricity in the fuel cell. This same water can then be used again to re-produce the hydrogen.

A special new lightweight twin-engine powertrain, developing up to 400 kW, or 540 horsepower, has been developed for the Green GT H2. The fuel cell produces no emissions of gas or CO2, or NOx, or any other pollutants.

In this video, the fuel cell located inside the race car is started under load from 10,000 to 120,000 rpm.
