F1: Alexander Rossi named in Lotus driver development program

Alexander Rossi was confirmed Saturday as one of the seven drivers to enter AirAsia Team Lotus' Driver Development Program.

Daim Hishammudin, Senna Iriawan, Max Klinkby-Silver, Matt Parry, Tanart Sathienthirakul and Weiron Tan were the six other drivers to be selected, from around the globe.

Team Lotus' program was launched on Saturday, in Malaysia, and covers racing in various formulaes, from karting to the World Series by Renault. It is aimed at preparing the F1 drivers of the future

The selected drivers will have access to guidance, coaching and sponsorship procurement from the Formula 1 team. Fitness and nutrition will also be key in the training.

Alex Yoong is the head of the development program. He had this to say about Rossi: "Alexander is the most senior of the drivers in the Program with a lot of experience at several top levels of racing. We at the AirAsia Team Lotus Driver Development Program have high expectations and belief in him.”
