Reports in the German press announced on Thursday that Williams Formula 1 driver Nico Hulkenberg's manager Willi Weber has narrowly avoided a prison term.

Weber, who previously managed the Schumacher brothers and is still involved with the commercial aspects of Michael Schumacher's career, was recently back in a German court.

Two years ago, he was sentenced to probation and a hefty fine in a case involving an insolvent Schumacher merchandising company.

For related matters regarding the fraudulent bankruptcy of 'Pole Position Marketing' and embezzlement, another case was recently heard by the Stuttgart district court.

German reports including the news agency DPA and the Suddeutsche newspaper on Thursday said Weber has been sentenced to a further two-year probation period.

He must also give 360,000 euros to charitable organisations.
