By ,

The Conseil général des Yvelines presented today Thursday plans for a new home for the Grand Prix de France . The new circuit would be located at Flins-Les Mureaux, close to Paris. After months of discussions to try and find a suitable venue for the Grand Prix, it was announced that a new road circuit at Flins-Les Mureaux, north east of Paris, has been given the nod as French authorities' preferred option. The new track, which will be 4.5-km long with a 1-km straightway, beat off competition from four other venues that had made the final shortlist. French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte will work on this new 112 million euros circuit. The track is expected to be ready in time for the 2011 season, although Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone will make a final decision about the return of the French GP on the F1 calendar. However, the project still faces stiff opposition from the local politicians and residents. photo: René Fagnan - Auto123.com
