Red Bull Racing drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber set Friday the fastest times in the first two free practice sessions in preparation for the Grand Prix of Great Britain.
In the morning, Vettel set the fastest lap time ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Renault’s Robert Kubica .
After lunch, Webber emerged quickest, but the Australian also sat out the end of the afternoon session while Red Bull fixed an electrical problem with his RB6.
McLaren debuted its Red Bull-like blown exhaust layout on Friday, but Lewis Hamilton -- the fastest of the two MP5-25s -- was 1.5 seconds off the pace.
Closest to Webber's ultimate pace in the afternoon was Fernando Alonso, but his Ferrari F10 was four tenths slower in the afternoon session.
Vettel finished the session in third place ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa.
Russian driver Vitaly Petrov caused a surprise by setting the 7th time, beating his teammate Kubica.
Several drivers complained about a bump in Corner 11 and asked changes to be made to the high kerbs at the Magotts/Becketts complex.
