For a third day in a row, rain disturbed the test programme of the Formula 1 teams, forcing them to run in full rain trim.
The track was dry during the first hour of the session. Nineteen-year old Jaime Alguersuari made the most of it and set what was to be the fastest time of the day.
The Toro Rosso driver was followed by another Spaniard, Pedro de la Rosa, who drove the BMW-Sauber to second place.
Adrian Sutil (Force India), Felipe Massa (Ferrari) and Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) followed in order.
Lucas di Grassi went out very late during the day in the Virgin-Cosworth for a 7-lap run to ensure that the modifications performed on the front wing mounting were well done.
The Jerez test concludes tomorrow, with Michael Schumacher returning for Mercedes and Robert Kubica back in the Renault. The other eight teams plan to run the same drivers as today.
