Russian investors are reportedly looking to buy into the new F1 team Virgin .

Germany's Auto Motor und Sport reports that the potential investors hark from the Russian automobile world.

Virgin is already sponsored by Marussia, the first Russian supercar maker.

The brand is headed by Nikolai Fomenko, a racing driver and presenter of the Russian version of television car show Top Gear. He said last month he plans to bring Marussia onto the grid in 2012.

"The F1 project is a leading edge for the marketing of a supercar" he is quoted as recently saying.
