F1: What's in store for Bruno Senna?

By ,

Brazilian driver Bruno Senna, the nephew of the legendary three-time World Champion Ayrton Senna, works hard to stay in Formula 1 next season.

Senna took over the driving duties of the No. 9 Lotus Renault this season after Nick Heidfeld was evicted from the team after the Grand Prix of Hungary.

His best qualifying effort came at Spa with a 7th place while his best race result was a 9th place finish at the Italian Grand Prix.

For 2012, Lotus' drivers will be Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean .

Senna told Autosport magazine that in order to stay in Formula 1 he would consider taking a reserve seat, even with Lotus, provided it included running during Fridays free practice sessions.

"To accept a third driver place it would have to be a similar type of role to what certain people had this year with driving on Fridays," Senna told Autosport .

The Brazilian's target is obviously to land a full-time drive with one of the smaller teams, but the number of available spots is now extremely limited.
