The 2011 season ended on Sunday at Interlagos, Brazil with the checkered flag going to Red Bull Racing's No. 2 driver, Mark Webber.
So, who impressed you the most this year? Here are my top choices. Of course, feel free to disagree!
1 . Sebastien Vettel
While I'm a bit tired and annoyed to see him raise the index finger (''I'm No. 1... again!''), he's quite literally second to none. Fast, consistent and more patient than ever, he dominated the field. End of discussion.
2 . Jenson Button
Not the fastest but the smartest and slyest. Button can juggle race strategies and pass other drivers in spectacular fashion. Plus, he's one of the few true gentlemen in F1.
3 . Fernando Alonso
Many people despise him, but the Spaniard can still unite an entire team, which is rare. He also delivers what's expected of him. Ferrari loves the guy.
4 . Adrian Sutil
This German driver makes little noise, but he managed to get the most out of his Force India car. His speed and mistake-free driving really impressed me this year.
5 . Nico Rosberg
Again facing direct competition from the sport's mortal god, Michael Schumacher, Rosberg found a way to shine. More importantly, he never loses his cool when things don't work out as planned.
6 . Paul di Resta
Like Sutil, this inexperienced driver keeps a low profile. However, he stood out on the track using his special skills as an attacker.
7 . Sergio Pérez
Yet another solid rookie. A big crash in Monaco shook him up a bit, but Pérez proved fast and consistent behind the wheel of a very ordinary car.
8 . Michael Schumacher
The 7-time world champion displayed great form this season, making fewer mistakes and showing more patience during races. Competitors will have to keep an eye on him in 2012.
9 . Lewis Hamilton
A big disappointment. Even though he earned three victories, Hamilton seems to have lost a step. Dealing with personal problems, he let out his frustration by being too aggressive and sloppy on the track.
10 . Mark Webber
Suffering from the ''former Schumacher teammate'' syndrome, he was vastly outmatched by Vettel and things spiralled downward for him. Maybe Webber doesn't trust his skills the way he used to. The last Grand Prix of the season might have put him back on the rails.
