Although it was a first victory for Vergne in Silverstone, a track the series was visiting for the third time this season, he already counts a dozen of wins this year.

The 20-years-old Frenchman finished 1.2 seconds ahead of teammate Adriano Buzaid who was unable to get the best out of minor technical glitches on Vergne’s ride. Oli Webb took the final place on the podium.

Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet, Mika Hakkinen, Rubens Barrichello and Jackie Stewart, amongst others, have won this championship in the past.

Vergne, a Red Bull driver, gives Volkswagen a title in this series.
