Fisker to unveil new Karma S Sunset Concept in Detroit

By ,

The 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit will be a major event for Fisker, which is set to launch not only the production version of the Karma sedan but also an all-new concept.Proudly building on the success of the former, the latter is a prototypical convertible variant called Karma S Sunset. It uses the same Q-DRIVE powertrain as the sedan, courtesy of Quantum.
This plug-in electric-hybrid system benefits from lithium-ion batteries allowing a range of a little over 80 kilometers (50 miles) in fully electric mode. The conventional engine then comes into play to deliver a combined 408 horsepower. Other than that, information on the new model is pretty scarce at the moment. Fisker is glad to announce, though, that the sedan is already sold out until mid-2010. Good news for Canadian consumers: Fisker Automotive CEO Henrik Fisker confirmed last year during an interview following the launch of the Karma Concept that the brand's products will eventually be sold this side of the border. photo: Fisker Automotive
