Ford wins prestigious CAA award for blind-spot mirror and 100 percent recycled seats

Ford has just won a pair of CAA Pyramid Awards for a pair of unique features- marking the first time a single automaker has won both. The brand's new Blind Spot Mirror and 100 percent recycled seats each took home awards for Safety Innovation and Environmental Initiative, respectively.
Blind Spot Mirror
The Blind Spot Mirror fixes a simple convex spotter mirror to provide a wider view of the driver's blind spot, helping to prevent accidents. According to Ford research, over 75 percent of those who tried the mirror said it improved their confidence, and that its learning curve was minimal."Given CAA's strong commitment to road safety, we are pleased to see automobile manufacturers like Ford, creating safety innovations that help keep Canadian motorists safe," says Tim Shearman, president of CAA. "Improving blind spot visibility will help to reduce collisions on our roads."On the green front are Ford's now award-winning '100 percent recycled' seats. Made of a fabric comprised entirely of post-industrial recycled materials, they're estimated to save some 600,000 gallons of water, 1.8 million pounds of carbon dioxide and 7 million kilowatts of electricity. photo: Ford
