Frankfurt 2011: Subaru XV ready for deployment

Subaru promised the XV crossover would stay true to the concept unveiled earlier this year, and the automaker kept its word with the production version served up today at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Based on the Impreza and undeniably similar, the crossover will feature 1.6- and 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder Boxers kicking out 114 and 150 hp, respectively. A diesel mill will also be available in Europe, generating 147 ponies and producing 146 g/km of CO2.

A CVT or 5-speed manual transmission will work hand in hand with a start/stop system to keep fuel consumption firmly in check.

The cabin is a model of Subaru soberness, with a dark centre console dominated by a 4.3-inch navigation screen.

The automaker has not yet confirmed if the XV will be available as an Outback Sport in North America. If Subaru decides to go ahead with it, it’ll likely only be motivated by the 2.0-litre engine.
