Future Nissan GT-R to be 2+2 hybrid, retain front engine

By ,

Nissan's Chief Creative Officer, Shiro Nakamura, told Top Gear that the next-generation GT-R will be a 2+2 hybrid and retain its front engine.

When asked about the speculative renderings seen on the Internet, he mentioned that some elements could be borrowed from the Vision Gran Turismo virtual concept. However, the latter is a mid-engined car, and Mizuno-san (the GT-R's legendary father) says the GT-R will always be a front-engined 2+2 coupe.

So, the next GT-R will be a hybrid, but not mid-engined. Expect to see it in 2018 at the earliest, Nakamura confessed.
