Geneva 2011: World premiere of the Lamborghini Aventador

By ,

After revealing bit by bit the specifications of the machine destined to replace the Murciélago, a source wishing to remain anonymous has admitted that the Aventador LP 700-4 will be presented for the very first time at the Geneva Motor Show.

Orders are already being taken for the model, which should be delivered as of the second quarter of 2011. However, all the units of the first year of production have already been sold out. The informer also revealed that Lamborghini is working hard on production and could even increase the pace to be able to build up to 100 new LP 700-4s by March 1.

The decision is no doubt tied to the fact that several economists believe the American market for $200,000-plus vehicles, the biggest in the world, should grow by 146% after being set back by 40% in 2010.

The Italian manufacturer’s new flagship model is motivated by a 700-hp, V12 engine coupled with a seven-speed ISR transmission, catapulting it from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 short seconds en route to beastly top speeds of 350 km/h.

The Aventador will rest on a race-inspired suspension and be built from a landslide of composite materials known for their lightness, optimizing both performance and fuel consumption.

The Geneva Motor Show will be held from March 3 to 13, 2011, with the unveiling of the Lamborghini’s latest supercar slated for March 1. As usual, the Auto123 team will keep you up to date on the latest happenings.
