GM's Two-Mode Hybrid system voted Best New Green Technology by AJAC

In a move to promote green technologies, the AJAC initiated its first annual Best New Green Technology award, and the winner was announced at the Montreal Auto Show .
General Motors' Two-Mode Hybrid technology was recognized as the best this year, a powertrain that consists of a 6.0-litre V8 and an electric motor that produce a combined output of 332 horsepower and 367 lb-ft of torque, while consuming just 9.8 L/100 km in the city. The system is currently available in the Chevrolet Tahoe and Silverado , the GMC Yukon and Sierra as well as in the Cadillac Escalade . Later this year, Saturn's Vue SUV will be available with a Two-Mode Hybrid system that features a 3.6-liter V6 and 262 horsepower. The other finalists in this inaugural year of the award were Subaru's PZEV technology and Volkswagen's TDI clean diesel technology.
