Google Maps now includes EV charging stations

By ,

When Canadians start to buy electric vehicles, they will have a limited number of charging stations at their disposal. Savvy route planning will become necessary to prevent the batteries from running empty in the middle of a trip, with a tow truck as the only resort.

Fortunately, Google Maps comes to the rescue by listing the various locations where these charging stations can be found.

For example, searching on Google Maps for "ev charging station near Los Angeles ca" returns a map of the area with nearby stations highlighted. The database includes about 600 Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) locations from the U.S. Department of Energy, and will be frequently updated to help EV owners travel with peace of mind.

Right now, the service is only available in the United States but we can safely assume that it will cross the border up north in the near future.
