GP2: Jules Bianchi takes pole with one fast lap at soaked Silverstone

By ,

Frenchman Jules Bianchi took the pole position for the first GP2 race of the weekend in Silverstone with only one fast lap as the rain soaked the Silverstone circuit nine minutes in the qualifying session.

The track conditions never improved following the rain fall so positions remained unchanged after those first meaningful laps. The majority of the field sat in their pits for the remaining of the session.

Alvaro Parente will start in second with Romain Grosjean in third position. The later will however start in 13th because of a 10-place penalty for causing a collision in Valencia, two weeks ago. Christian Vietoris inherits the third spot.
