GP2 : Valerio and Maldonado claim victory at Silverstone

By ,

Alberto Valerio and Pastor Maldonado won rounds 7 and 8 of the season, this week-end at Silverstone. Grosjean is back in the lead on provisional classification.Alberto Valerio has claimed his first GP2 victory with a mature drive in race one on Saturday, combining aggression to overtake for the lead along with a strong but sensible pace thereafter to protect  both  his  lead  and  his  tyres  to  lead  home  countryman  Lucas  di  Grassi  and  Nico Hülkenberg.Pastor  Maldonado  has  taken  his  second  victory  of  the  season  on Sunday  in  race  two at Silverstone, leading from lights to flag despite race long pressure and a late safety car period to claim the win ahead of Andreas Zuber and Karun Chandhok. After he clinched position 5 and 4, Grosjean  has extended  his  championship  lead over Barwa Addax teammate Vitaly Petrov by 40 points to 33, with the ART pair all equal on 26 points, just two ahead of di Grassi.
