Grand-Am: Jon Fogarty secures pole position for Montreal race

American driver Jon Fogarty set the best time of the 15-minute qualifying session to secure pole position for the Grand-Am Rolex race to be held on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal.

Fogarty, driving the No. 99 GAINSCO Chevrolet Riley, set a quick time early in the session and managed to produce an even better time on his last lap.

Points standing’s leader Memo Rojas of Mexico produced a brilliant effort late in the session to move into second place, just 0.316 second slower than Fogarty. Rojas is sharing the wheel of the No. 01 Telmex Ganassi BMW Riley with Scott Pruett.

Ricky Taylor, in the Sun Trust Ford Dallara qualified third, beating Burt Frisselle in the Ford Riley of team AIM Autosport.

In the GT class, Boris Said clinched the pole position aboard the No. 31 Chevrolet Corvette.

Andrew Davis, driving a Camaro GT.R qualified second and Scott Russell, in a Corvette was third.

The 200-mile, 2-hour race will start at 2:15 pm tomorrow, Saturday.
