Grand-Am: Racers Edge Viper driver line-up

By ,

Racers Edge Motorsport (REM) announced which drivers would be behind the wheel of their Dodge Viper for the 2012 Grand-Am season. Race organizers of the Rolex 24 at Daytona chose the Porsche 911 as their pace car.

REM regular drivers will be Belgium’s Jan Heylen and Doug Peterson, Endurance-Info.com reported. Heylen’s countryman, Maxime Solet will lend a hand, just like Emilio Valverde, at the season opener’s 24-hour round.

Leading the field at the start of the Rolex 24 will be a brand-new seventh generation Porsche 911. It made sense, for the 50th edition of the prestigious race, to have such an important actor of the series pace the competitors.

"Porsche has enjoyed a long and successful history in the Rolex 24 At Daytona," Grand-Am president Tom Bledsoe explained. "Having a Porsche 911 road car pacing this milestone race will be another proud addition to that heritage."
