Grand-Am: The Roar eclipse Daytona track record

The Road Before the Rolex 24 was on last weekend at Daytona International Speedway. It was an occasion for drivers of the upcoming 48th edition to test their cars one final time before the action kicks in on January 28th.

Max Angelelli profited the occasion by unofficially eclipsing Daytona's track record with a lap of 1:40.466 at 127.566 mph.

The official track record will be up for the competitiors to beat on January 28th as the first part of the qualifying session for the 48th Rolex 24 At Daytona will take place.

David Donohue, 2009 champion of this ectic and historical race, is the actual record holder, qualifying with a lap of 1:40.540 (127.472 mph) last year.

In GT, Sylvain Tremblay owns the record with a mark of 1:49.455 (117.100 mph) he set last year. Leh Keen recorded a lap of 1:49.214 during this week's Roar Before the Rolex 24!

Scott Dixon took the second position of the test last week, followed by Michael Valiante, Scott Pruett and Christophe Bouchut.

In GT, Keen was followed by Martin Ragginger, Spencer Pumpelly, Jorg Bergmeister and Sylvain Tremblay.

This year's Daytona 24 is scheduled to start on January 30th and finish on January 31st.
