GT: Audi wins Nürburgring 24 Hours

Team Phoenix’s Audi R8 LMS, driven by Basseng, Winkelhock, Haase and Stipler secured victory at the Nürburgring 24 Hours.

That was a 1-2 victory for Audi, as Mamerow Racing’s R8 LMS takes second place with Mamerow, Abt, Abermüller and Hahne.

Behind, the finish was quite chaotic when the Manthey Racing’s Porsche 911, which was on his way to a third place, slowed down arriving at the finish line to be lapped by the leading car, to prevent the car to run another 22 km-long lap, as the 911 was running out of fuel.

Dumas, who was at the wheel, stopped on the track and was hit by a Renault Clio, which was surprised by the move from the Frenchman.

Hankook Team Heico’s Mercedes SLS inherited third position, with Frankenhout, Simonsen, Kaffer and Arnold. Team Schubert’s BMW Z4, which set the pace in qualifying, was hit by technical issues in the race. Finally, it was the Marc VDS Racing’s Z4 (Leinders, Palttala and Martin) takes fourth position.

It was the R8 LMS’ first victory at the Nürburgring 24 Hours
