The famed 24 Hours of the Nurburgring event for GT cars will be held this weekend and is undoubtedly the most prestigious endurance race held in Germany.
The gruleing race is held on the legendary, 22km-long, 176-turn Nordschleife circuit of the Nurburgring in front of the impressive crowd of 200,000 campers!
There's intense action out on the race track with a field of some 250 cars!
Three German car manufacturers are taking this event very seriously with excellent chances of taking the oevrall victory: Porsche, Audi and BMW.
Porsche, the winner of the last four editions of the event will try to win this weekend with a horde of 911 GT3-Rs . Also in contention for victory are the Audi R8 LMSs and the BMW M3 GT2s.
Ferrari, Lexus and Nissan will also try to shine in their respective categories.
There are also less exotic cars entered in the event such as Honda Civics, Opel Astras, Ford Fiestas, VW Golfs, Peugeot 206s, Renault Clios. There's even a Mercedes Benz SLK entered!
Last minute update: The Audi R8 LMS looks to be the car to beat in the 38th running of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring: Four of the mid-engine sportscars start the race on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. from the first four grid positions.
