Francesco Pastorelli and Yelmer Buurman (Corvette Z06), who already claimed maiden win in qualifying race, take victory in the championship race presented in San Luis, last round of the FIA GT1 world championship.
The Corvette Z06, which started from pole position, escaped from a huge crash at the start involving six cars, including the Nissan GT-R driven by Lucas Luhr and Michael Krumm, who already secured title on Saturday. The accident brought the safety car out for several laps.
At the restart, Alex Muller’s Aston Martin DB9 moved up in the lead, but the german driver get a drive through penalty for having overtaken under yellow flags in the opening lap. Richard Westbrook and Peter Dumbreck’s Nissan GT-R came out in front, but they get the same punishment for the same reason.
That put the Corvette Z06 driven by Pastorelli and Buurman back in the lead. The pair take another win after the victory in qualifying race on Saturday. Hexis AMR clinches title in teams’ championship.
