American manufacturer Goodyear is back with its Ultra Grip Ice and Ultra Grip Ice WRT lines, but many SUV owners will certainly go for the Wrangler Workhorse AT and especially Wrangler SilentArmor (which I tried for a long time on my Jeep and often on other trucks), reasonably priced products that can be very satisfying during our Canadian winter.

Goodyear’s larger Duratrac is designed for work trucks, while Dunlop, associated with Goodyear, still offers the Winter Maxx SJ8 .

By the way, Goodyear has just completed an important transaction by buying its competitor Cooper and we find the interesting Discoverer M+S and XT/4 , the latter being more aggressive. Then, there’s always the Evolution Winter (studdable) Snow Claw for large SUVs and pickups from Cooper. These tires are a little less convincing in quality than the Goodyear ones, but they may appeal to budget-minded buyers.

It remains to be seen whether Cooper will continue to produce the Avalanche Xtreme LT from Hercules.
