Honda announced in a press release today that it will be ending production of the Element, which has seen its popularity drop faced with the brand’s other products, such as the CR-V . The 2011 model will continue to be sold in the US, while the Japanese automaker liquidates its inventory of 2010 versions.
The Honda Element was introduced in Canada in 2002, and 17,000 units have been sold since. It promised consumers a unique style and efficient ride and was mostly aimed at small business owners, outdoor enthusiasts and animal lovers.
Despite efforts to increase the crossover’s versatility in 2003 and sporty personality with the SC version in 2007, the Element was never a smashing success, and Honda has decided to draw the curtain on this unusual model.
