The all-new 2017 Honda Civic Type R, first revealed in Geneva earlier this month, was expected by many to make its North American debut at the New York Auto Show in mid-April. Well, it seems like the folks at Honda North America couldn’t wait that long to bring the car this side of the Atlantic.

Much to the delight of Type R fans across the land, the fastest and most powerful production Honda ever hit the stage at the 2017 AutoCon automotive performance and tuning convention in Los Angeles yesterday.

Powered by a direct-injected and turbocharged 2.0LC i-VTEC engine with peak ratings of 306 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, the 2017 Honda Civic Type R will go on sale in late spring.
