Indy Lights: Esteban Guerrieri edges Stefan Wilson for pole in Toronto

By ,

Esteban Guerrieri earned his third consecutive Sunoco Pole Award in Toronto by taking advantage of a disappointed Stefan Wilson who had his best time canceled because it was registered under a yellow flag.

It will be the fifth start from the pole of the season for Guerrieri, driver of the No. 7 Lucas Oil/Sam Schmidt Motorsports car.

Wilson, driving the No. 5 Andretti Autosport car, posted a lap of 1:02.8714, which would have been good enough for his first Firestone Indy Lights pole. The lap was cancelled because of a local caution since a driver can't improve their time in such circumstance.

So Wilson had to settle for second while his teammate, Peter Dempsey, who topped the morning practice session time report in the No. 26 car, will join Anders Krohn, driver of the No. 9 car, on the second row.

Josef Newgarden, driving the No. 11 Copart/Score Big/Robo-Pong/Sam Schmidt Motorsports car, will join Gustavo Yacaman in the No. 2 TMR-Tuvacol/Xtreme Coil Drillnig car on Row 3.
