Indy Lights: Jack Hawksworth wins in Toronto

By ,

Firestone Indy Lights newcomer Jack Hawksworth made his trip to Toronto all the worthwhile as he first earned pole position for the race and then led flag-to-flag the Toronto 100, earning his second victory of the 2013 season.

With bonus points attached for the pole and leading the most laps to the victory and championship points front-runner Carlos Munoz placing fourth, Hawksworth slid into title contention through eight of 12 rounds.

Peter Dempsey, the Firestone Freedom 100 winner in the No. 5 Belardi Auto Racing car, overtook the No. 7 Schmidt Peterson with Curb-Agajanian car of Gabby Chaves on Lap 46 for second and finished a distant 14.4 seconds back.

Munoz takes an eight-point lead over Sage Karam into the race at Mid-Ohio, with Chaves 36 points behind in third. Chaves recorded his third consecutive podium finish and sixth in the eight races.
