IndyCar: Jean Alesi rumoured to contest Las Vegas $5M race

By ,

Former Ferrari Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi is tipped to be interested to compete in the 2011 IndyCar Series finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The organisers of the race offer an unprecedented $5 million prize fund to any 'wild card' entry to triumph in the race.

Several drivers are said to be interested to compete in the event, such as Michael Andretti, Juan-Pablo Montoya, Paul Tracy, Al Unser Jr, Jimmy Vasser and even rally driver Petter Solberg.

Former Formula 1 Champion, Canadian Jacques Villeneuve was said to be interested but he told Auto123.com that his manager has handling the discussions and that competing race was not a priority.

Alesi could enter the race with the Lotus-affiliated KV Racing Technology outfit due to his relationship with Group Lotus as an ambassador for Lotus Renault GP and a test-driver for the new T125 single-seater project.

Lotus Cars’ Gino Rosato told Auto123.com that there were some truth in the Alesi rumour and more would be announced shortly. So stay tuned!
