IndyCar: Lotus adds to team roster

By ,

Only a few hours after Keith Wiggins announced that his team HVM Racing would become a Lotus partner, Group Lotus PLC has now also confirmed that Dreyer & Reinbold and Bryan Herta Motorsports would also act as a factory teams.

Lotus will provide DRR and Bryan Herta Autosport entries with its new Lotus V-6 racing engine for the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series season. As factory partner teams, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and BHA will be responsible for a significant amount of on-track testing, off-track research and development activities.

In order to be more proficient, Lotus will open a U.S. base of operations in Indianapolis early in 2012 for support and logistics.

As we had already revealed sometime ago, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing is planning to run two cars full-time for the 2012 season as well as an additional entry for the Indianapolis 500.
