Mike Conway (Andretti Autosport) earned his first ever IZOD IndyCar Series race win today in Long Beach after battling it out on the street circuit following a poor first pitstop earlier on.

Team Penske’s Ryan Briscoe, who had been among the fastest drivers all week-end long but still managed to qualify a distant 12th, finished second while series champion Dario Franchitti (Ganassi) was third.

A great day for both Canadians James Hinchcliffe (Newman-Haas) and Alex Tagliani (Sam Schmidt Motorsports) who crossed the finish line respectively in 4th and 5th place.

Pole-sitter Will Power (Penske) was only 10th after an incident involving his own team-mate Helio Castroneves.

At the restart following an incident involving Justin Wilson (Dreyer& Reinbold) after the final pitstops, Power challenged Hunter-Reay for second, only for his following Penske team-mate Castroneves to slide into the back of him at Turn 1, sending both spinning.
