IndyCar: Tony Kanaan out of de Ferran Dragon Racing

Although he had been announced as the new driver for de Ferran Dragon Racing back in December, Tony Kanaan says that he is back looking for work after failing to secure the sponsorship needed to complete the deal.

Even though some teams are still looking for drivers, the IndyCar season which is due to start in just over a month Several teams such as Newman/Haas, Conquest, KV, Dreyer & Reinbold and Dale Coyne are all likely to have financial considerations.

Kanaan, the 2004 IndyCar champion, parted company with Andretti Autosport at the end of last year after eight seasons after loosing long-time sponsor 7-11.

Meanwhile, former de Ferran Dragon’s driver in 2009 and2010, Rafael Matos has stated that he is close to announcing a return to the series, with at least a partial calendar of races at the beginning of the season, and possibly a full-time program.
