Tony Kanaan edged his Andretti Green's teammate Marco Andretti by the narrow margin of 0.03 seconds to secure pole position for the night race to be held Saturday at the Richmond track. Newman-Haas-Lanigan's Graham Rahal took a surprise third just in front of series leader Scott Dixon. Former Indy 500 winner Buddy Rice completes the top 5.
