It's official: Unions to put Saab bankrupt

The inevitable scenario in the minds of just about everyone finally took place today: the Unionen and Ledarna unions have officially applied for Saab to be declared bankrupt by a Swedish court.

A while ago, the automaker received an ultimatum from the two workers associations after salaries weren't paid for weeks, but Saab failed to deliver.

Now, the threat has become a reality and a decision by the court is expected within a few weeks.

Earlier this month, Saab's application for protection from its creditors to help it avoid bankruptcy was rejected for lack of evidence that the company would be able to solve its liquidity crisis and continue operations.
