Canadian Jacques Villeneuve , the 1995 Indy 500 winner and 1997 Formula 1 World Champion will contest on June 6 the 12 Hours of Spa in a works Seat Leon Tdi.

Villeneuve, who will not run the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year, will drive the turbo diesel Leon alongside regular drivers Pierre-Yves Corthals and Jordi Gené on the famed and picturesque Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

"I was in Europe to attend the Grand Prix in Monaco when I got the invitation from Pierre-Yves Corthals to do this race," Jacques Villeneuve told Auto123.com.

"I accepted the challenge because Spa-Francorchamps is undoubtedly one of my favourite race tracks in the world and because it is a factory effort from a car manufacturer. I was immediately seduced. I now have a solid experience of turbo diesel engines, having done Le Mans twice with Peugeot. My two sons will be at the race. This will be the first time they'll see their father race, which is great."
