Jeep hits new Altitude with limited editions

By ,

Jeep will produce three new limited-edition vehicles with the “Altitude” moniker: the Grand Cherokee, Compass and Patriot Altitude. “Altitude” is the result of a Jeep-run Name My Ride contest, chosen from among entries that numbered more than 100,000.

Jeep in January introduced a blacked-out production-intended concept Grand Cherokee at the Houston Auto Show. The blacked-out Altitude editions will hit showrooms soon.

The Grand Cherokee Altitude offers some aggressive-looking design tweaks including a black gloss and platinum chrome grille and 20-inch tires on black gloss aluminum wheels. It will start with an MSRP of $44,695.

The Compass Altitude edition starts at $22,790 for 4x2 models and $25,090 for 4x4 models that will offer a choice of three drivetrain configurations. The Patriot Altitude starts at $22,090 for 4x2, $24,390 for 4x4.

The two also-ran name choices were “Midnight” and “Obsidian.” Consumers chose “Altitude” by online vote.
