By ,

Canadian driver Pier-Luc Ouellette captured the World title of the DD2 category at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals at the Al Ain raceway in U.A.E. last weekend.

For the final, Team Canada was in good position to take the win with an all Canadian first row. Pier-Luc Ouellette was starting on pole position with Nicholas Latifi alongside him.

During the entire race, Ouellette and Latifi remained in the top 3.

At the beginning of the final lap, Ouellette was in the lead and Latifi third but the leading pack was very close. Unfortunately for Latifi, he was punted off the racing line at the second corner and his dream to climb and the podium vanished at the same time.

Ouellette crossed the finish line first, only 6/100ths of a second in front of Australian Jason Pringle and 2/10ths ahead of Georg Vann of Estonia. It was a second Rotax World title for Ouellette.

Latifi managed to finish in 7th place.

Australia captured the Nations Cup over Canada and South Africa finished.
