Kia introduced the
Soul Concept at the
Detroit Auto Show in 2006 , and now they're ready to launch it in North America in 2008 - for the 2009 model year.
We caught it testing in the heat of the day. The Soul was only photographed once before, and that was in Korea. This is the first time we've seen it in North America. The Soul is California-designed and will be shorter than the
Rondo . The styling makes it obvious that Kia is putting this up against
Scion's xB .It's expected to be powered by a 2.0-liter in-line 4-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, but horsepower and other specs are currently unknown. This trendy Kia will be built in Korea.
