KIA TURNS POPULAR SWAMP COMMERCIAL INTO REALITY

MISSISSAUGA, ON — Kia Canada is no slouch when it comes to having a good time. Since launching in Canada in August 1999 they have been diligently spreading the word that buying a car can be fun. Since then, Kia has flexed its funny muscle on more than one occasion, coming out with amusing advertising campaigns, and sponsoring shows like the Canadian Comedy Awards. Last summer, Kia had Canadians wandering around yelling "Ayeee!", as the Swamp Tour commercial gained popularity. Now, Kia is offering Canadians the chance to experience their own Swamp Tour in Kia's Call of da Swamp Promotion.

In partnership with CTV, Kia Canada is running a contest that will give the two lucky winners, and their guests, the opportunity to go to Louisiana and experience a genuine Swamp Tour. Guiding the winners on their tour will be the original, one and only, swamp guide extraordinaire Blackie - who came to fame as the enthusiastic tour guide on the original Swamp Tour television commercial.

To enter the Call of da Swamp contestants were asked to watch CTV between May 21, 2001 and June 3, 2001 for the contest commercial. Viewers were asked to visit a Kia dealer and check out a Sportage 4x4, then log on to www.ctv.ca and answer three Kia questions to enter. Of the entries received, five semi-finalists will be chosen and flown to Toronto to do their best "Ayeee!" for the camera. Between June 25 and July 8, the Ayeees will be aired and viewers will be asked to vote on-line for their favourite Ayeee. One Swamp Tour will be awarded to the semi-finalist who gets the most votes for their "Ayeee!", the other one will be awarded to an on-line voter. Then it's off for some Cajun-licking good fun!
