KTM to show two world premieres at Geneva

By ,

Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM is perhaps best known for their off-road motorbikes, though 2009 marks their second year with the X-BOW sports car. KTM will present two world premieres to audiences at the Geneva Motor Show next month, alongside a redefined product range that offers a tiered selection of their super-light supercar.Built for extremes of road-legal performance, the X-BOW is the brand's first automobile. The ultra-potent, Audi-powered racer began production last year with a 240 horsepower engine and extensive aerodynamic engineering to ensure optimized stability. Standard is a six-speed transmission, and owners can select from various options-- including wheels and suspension components.

A two-seater, the X-BOW is characterized by a low, track-ready look and exposed body-work. Think along the lines of a Lotus Exige or Ariel Atom, and you're in the X-BOW's ballpark. Few details are available on the manufacturer's media site at this time, though it's known that the first 100 units of the 2009 model-year X-BOW are planned as an exclusive special series. All have been pre-sold.For a closer look, check out the X-BOW at the Geneva Motor Show, which opens to the public on March 3rd. photo: KTM
