Le Mirage : Elegance and the Automobile

By ,

The United States has Pebble Beach and Amelia Island; France, the Louis Vuitton Classic; Italy, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este and Great Britain, the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Now, beginning this year, Quebec will have its own Concours d’élégance, featuring some of the most beautiful pre- and post-war classic cars on display in an enchanting setting.

The inaugural edition of the Concours d’Élégance Le Mirage will take place on Sunday, August 16, 2009, on the grounds of Le Mirage golf club in Terrebonne, one of the most prestigious golf clubs in Canada. Proceeds will benefit the Fondation André-Delambre, whose mission is to assist people suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and to fund research to combat this disease.

This colourful event is being organized in cooperation with two collector car clubs, the VEA (Voitures européennes d’autrefois) and the VAQ (Voitures anciennes du Québec).

René Angélil has accepted to be honorary president of the event and will be assisted by two honorary co-chairs: Jacques Villeneuve, former Formula One race-car champion, and Pierre Marchand, collector and president of Archambault Musique, a division of Groupe Archambault Inc.

Participation is by invitation only. Some 100 cars will be on display and will take part in the competition under this year’s theme, “The Beautiful Story.” Grounds will open to the public at 10 a.m. Admission is limited to 2,000 people.
