After running through a number of sedan and sport utility concepts, Lexus launched the LF-C sports coupe/convertible. The original unveiling took place at the 2004 New York International Auto Show.
Lexus claims that this passionate design with its highlighted fenders, faceted edges as well clear-cut angles highlight the sporty look the automaker is attempting to achieve, a sharp contrast to the curved shapes of its current products. Powering the LF-C is Lexus' 4.3-liter V8 engine, currently featured in the SC hardtop convertible. The engine is well respected for its responsiveness, refinement and reliability. It is expected to deliver at least the same 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque that it produces in its other iterations, putting it on par with luxury coupes like Jaguar's XK. Just as the LF-S sedan influenced the next generation GS sedan, is it possible that the next generation of Lexus SC could be rooted in the LF-C concept? We'll all just have to wait and see if the LF-C is merely a concept or possibly a prototype of a future model. Toyota meanwhile announced pricing for the 2008 RX 350 at $51,550. They also introduced the Toyota Tundra Yamaha Edition which will be available in early May of this year.
