Lincoln will have its own design studio

Recently, Ford announced that it would invest a million dollars to better position Lincoln and to differentiate their products against those of the Blue Oval, in order to grab a larger market share.

Last evening, we learned that the US manufacturer has decided to offer its luxury brand its own design studio that will work closely with the product development team.

Consequently, Lincoln vehicles will soon display a distinct style, both in and out in addition to housing unique and more fuel-efficient powertrains. The latter will most likely be slightly modified versions of engines and transmissions used by Ford.

The desired transformation will not occur immediately, however, and one can expect that the first major changes will be presented in three or four years.

As the design factor is key element in to attract consumers (just think of the recent success of Hyundai and Kia), it really seems that this is a step in the right direction.
