Lotus Engineering , the automotive consultancy division of Lotus Group, has just signed a business agreement with the U.K. government as part of the latter's funding initiative for 16 low-emission vehicle development programs. A collaboration led by hydrogen fuel cell developer Intelligent Energy and including London Taxis International (LTI) and TRW Conekt will see a fleet of classic London cabs fitted with zero-emission hydrogen fuel-cell power systems thanks to the renowned expertise of Lotus Engineering . The cars will be produced in time for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Other cities in the U.K. will also get these eco-friendly taxis by 2014.Another program will be the development of a green limousine based on a Jaguar sedan. Lotus will incorporate a highly-advanced powertrain, a compact battery pack as well as a small auxiliary motor to help the car maintain a cruising speed on the road. Lotus gets two new contracts to produce green vehicles
