Lotus 'Project Eagle': increased performance and room for four

By ,

At the upcoming British Motor Show in London (July 23 - August 3), Lotus will unveil a new mid-engine sports coupe called ' Project Eagle '. It will be powered by a Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V6 generating 280 horsepower. And like every other Lotus, the chassis will be extremely lightweight.
No performance data has been recorded yet, but the company claims a top speed of 258 km/h and 0-60 mi/h accelerations in less than 5 seconds. According to engineers, 'Project Eagle' is considerably faster than the smaller Elise on the famous Nürburgring track, not to mention more stable at high speed than the Exige .Two-passenger and four-passenger configurations will be available with this coupe. The former will offer additional cargo room in lieu of the rear seats. The trunk, meanwhile, will be large enough to accommodate a golf bag. The list of features will include, among other things, a navigation system with 7-inch touch screen, satellite radio and rearview camera as well as leather seats. Production will be limited to 2,000 units a year, with the first deliveries scheduled for next summer. Already, a drop-top model and a high-performance variant of 'Project Eagle' have been announced. photo: Lotus
